Gum Disease Treatment
Noticing blood on your toothbrush or floss, or that your gums are inflamed and sore, are all indications that you are experiencing the early stages of gum disease, known as gingivitis.
Left untreated, the gums will continue to be irritated and inflamed and will pucker and shrink away from the teeth. This condition is known as periodontitis. Periodontitis causes pockets to form between the teeth and the gums, in which bacteria can grow and cause even more problems. Through scaling and root planing, our dentists can clean away all of the plaque and calculus from your teeth and roots, giving your gums a chance to heal.
Scaling/ root planning is the meticulous cleaning of the root surfaces to remove dental plaque and calculus getting rid of the bacteria that cause gum disease.
