At PDG, whenever possible, we will always save a tooth rather than extract it. Unfortunately however, there are cases where a tooth is irreparably damaged to save with root canal therapy or may be an impacted wisdom tooth causing pain, cavities, and damage to neighbouring teeth also, in advanced stages of gum disease, too much bone loss may have occurred to save a tooth.
After rigorously exhausting all possible alternatives and after conducting thorough examination we will remove the damaged tooth with your consent. During this procedure an anaesthetic is used to numb the tooth so that you will feel nothing at all while our dentists work.
Prior extraction our dentists will discuss with you all the available options for replacement. These include dental implants, bridges and partial dentures. Our dentists will talk you through all the advantages and disadvantages of each option to help you make an informed decision.
