Dental Emergencies

Chipped/ cracked or broken teeth show a variety of symptoms, including pain when chewing, especially with release of biting pressure, or pain when your teeth are exposed to temperature extremes.

Accidents, or even something much less dramatic, like chewing on something hard may cause your tooth to chip, crack or break.

Treatment depends on whether the pulp, the part of the tooth that contains blood vessels and nerves, is exposed or damaged. If you think you have a cracked tooth, it’s important to seek treatment quickly, because the longer you wait the worse it gets.

After assessment, our dentists may recommend the use of a strong colour- matched resin material replace the chipped area.  If the pulp is at risk however, you may need a root canal followed by a veneer or crown.
